As children,
We are told that no-one can live forever.
Because, of course,
That isn’t true.
Anyone can live forever,
Walking through the ages
As untouchable gods
To those below us.
Though,
It comes with a cost,
My friend.
I have seen
Whole worlds been born;
Galaxies thrive
And stars been born
In the eyes
Of those long past-
Only to be stolen away
By those jealous enough
To believe taking a life
Is the only form of revenge.

Because we saw the lives pass
As mere specks to us.
